Visage

Curated by Felix Ratcliffe as part of the Firstdraft Emerging Curators Program

Artists include: Robert HABEL Michelle HANLIN Julian HOOPER Matthew HOPKINS Rob McHAFFIE Mark RODDA and Jake WALKER

VISAGE will showcase recent works by seven contemporary artists who variously and idiosyncratically explore the face, portraiture (including self-portraiture), the figure and anthropomorphism as primary subjects in their current practice. Individual approaches to these subjects and themes range from the geometric and pattern-based to the semi-abstracted, organic, wilfully distorted and surreal.

Top job Rice! Can't Wait! Free book for ol' bobby boy?(ie 30th birthday prezzie for ol bobby boy)

have fun hughy

London calls you blokes! No place like the rugged australian coastline to enjoy our wonderful telecommunications . After taking this call Hugh peeled his dacks off and enjoyed the soothing salty water of Malua Bay. We'll miss Hughy, when he's not helping a mate with the Chinese menu in an RSL, he's absorbing knowledge from far and wide.
Hughy's simple method for meditation
- slouch in a comfy chair of your choice, draw your attention to the breath flowing in and out while allowing your thoughts to float like clouds through your mind, a little hooch or a fine red wine may help the process.

jake walker at gallery9, sydney

Jake dreams of doing up a country house over the hill outside Wellington. His mum dreams of a time 48,000 years ago when homosapians were battling it out with neanderthals somewhere in Isreal. Yay humans won the war and Jake is continuing the work, treating us to many subtle warped mish mashy paintings that come together as a real journey through one blokes battle of the brush. Really enjoyable one man group show
